These tapestry designs are adapted from the beautiful renditions of Aesop's 2500 tear old fables that are painted on the ceilings of Castle Coch in South Wales. Here are the Hare & Tortoise competing in their famous race and the Quack Doctor extolling the virtues of his medicine which does nothing for his own appearance.

Built for Lord Bute by William Burges, a contemporary of William Morris, in 1891, the outside of this 19th century retreat has the dramatic appearance of a 13th century castle, with a drawbridge, portcullis and turrets. The interior, however, is a riot of Victorian fantasy. It is open to the public.
