PLAIN BONNET WITH KNITTED IN TIES

Materials: Small quantity of 4ply or DK baby wool.

Needles   4ply use  2.75mm (12) & 3.25 (10), DK  use  3.25mm (10) & 4mm (8)

Cast on 81 (87) sts.

Row 1. Knit to end of row.

Row 2. Cast on 35 sts at beginning of row, knit to end. 116 (122) sts.

Rows 3 & 4. Cast off 35 sts, Knit to end. 46 (52)sts.

Rows 5 to 7. Knit.

Change to larger needles.

Row 8. K6, *yfwd, K2tog, K2, rep from * to lat 4 (7)sts, yfwd, K2tog 0 (1) time, K4 (5) sts.

Row 9. K4. P38 (44), K4.

Row 10. Knit.

Repeat 9th & 10th rows 6 (7)times then row 9 again thus ending rs facing for next row.

Shape Crown

Row 1: K6 (5), K2tog, *K2 (3), K2tog, rep from * to last 6 (5)sts, K6 (5). 37 (43) sts.

Row 2: & all alternate rows P

Row 3: K1, *K2tog, K4, rep from * to end. 31 (36) sts.

Row 5: K1, *K2tog, K3, rep from * to end. 25 (29) sts.

Row 7: K1, *K2tog, K2, rep from * to end. 19 (22) sts.

Row 9: K1, *K2tog, K1, rep from * to end. 13 (15) sts.

Row 10: P1, *P2tog, rep from * to end. 7 (8) sts.

Break off yarn, run yarn through remaining sts, draw up and fasten off.

Making Up

Join back seam up to g st border using as flat a seam as possible. 

Optional Crochet Edge 

With rs facing and using a 2.5mm (3.75mm) crochet hook slip stitch into a cast on stitch level with garter stitch border. Work 3 ch, 2 treble into same st, miss 2 cast on sts, *slip stitch into next stitch, 3 treble into same st, miss 2 cast on sts, rep from * to a cast on stitch level with garter stitch border to match beginning.  Fasten off.

 

BEANIE HAT

Materials: Small quantity of 4ply or DK baby wool.

Needles 3mm (11) & 3.25mm (10) for 4 ply, 3.75mm (9) & 4mm (8) for DK.

Cast on 50 (57:64:71) sts using smaller needles

Work 6 rows in K1, P1 rib.

Change to larger needles and continue in stocking stitch.

Work 16 (16:18:20) rows.

Shape Crown

1st row. *K5, K2tog, rep from * to last st, K1. 43 (49:55:61) sts.

Beg with a purl row work 1 (3:3:3) rows st st.

Next row. *K4, K2tog, rep from * to last st, K1. 36 (41:46:51) sts.

Next row. Purl

Next row. *K3, K2tog, rep from * to last st, K1. 29 (33:37:41) sts.

Next row. Purl

Next row. *K2, K2tog, rep from * to last st, K1. 22 (25:28:31) sts.

Next row. Purl

Next row. *K1, K2tog, rep from * to last st, K1. 15 (17:19:21) sts.

Next row. P1, *P2tog, rep from * to end. 8 (9:10:11) sts.

Break off yarn, run yarn through rem sts, draw up and fasten joff.

Join back with as flat a seam as possible.

 

BOOTEES 3ply & 4ply Version Chesterfield & Sheffield

Materials: Small quantity of  3ply, 4ply

Needles: 2.25mm (13) & 2.75mm (12) for 3 ply,

2.75mm (12) & 3.25mm (10) for 4ply,

With smaller needles cast on 23 (25) sts, fairly loosely.

Knit 3 rows.

Work K1 P1 rib for 7 rows.

Change to larger needles and rib 1 more row.

Divide for Instep (RS)

Next row. K16 (17), turn.

Next row. P9, turn.

Work 12 rows in stocking st on these 9 sts. Break yarn.

Rejoin yarn to instep side of 7 (8)sts on needle and pick up and knit 9 sts from side of

instep, K9 sts from needle, 9sts from side of instep, 7 (8)sts from needle. 41 (43)sts.

Work 9 rows in garter st.

Next row. work 2 tog, patt 17 (18), work 3 tog, patt 17 (18) work 2 tog.

Next row. Knit

Next row. Work 2 tog, patt 15 (16), work 3 tog, patt 15 (16) work 2 tog.

Knit 1 row. 33 (35)sts.

Cast off. Sew up. (No ribbon needed)

BOOTEES DK VERSION

Small quantity of DK baby wool.

Needles 3.25mm (10) and 4mm (8)

With smaller needles cast on 21sts, fairly loosely and Knit 3 rows.

Work K1 P1 rib for 7 rows.

Change to larger needles and rib 1 more row.

DIVIDE FOR INSTEP (RS)

Next Row: Knit 14, turn.

Next Row: Purl 7, turn.

Work 8 rows in st st on these 7 stitches. Break of yarn.

Rejoin yarn after 7 sts on right hand needle and pick up 7 sts from side of instep, K7 sts

from needle, pick up 7 sts from side of instep, K7 sts from needle. 35sts.

Work 7 rows in garter st.

Next Row: K2tog, K14, K3tog, K14, K2tog. 31sts.

Next Row: Knit.

Next Row: K2tog, K12, K3tog, K12, K2tog. 27sts.

Knit 1 row then cast off.

Join back and foot seam. (No ribbon needed)
