MARY HURST 1661 Sampler from the FITZWILLIAM MUSEUM, Cambridge, England.

A queen, a princess, a boxer with a bishop's crosier, and three boxers bearing acorns are featured on this fine English band sampler. The clothing on the nobles is enhanced with silver metallic bullion. The sampler begins with a section of whitework, and contains lovely arcaded pattern bands featuring roses, acorns, honeysuckle, pomegranate, pansies and daisies.

Linen count and finished size: Scarlet Letter's exclusive hand-dyed 35 count, 6-3/4"x32-1/2"

Stitches: Counted satin, cross, Montenegrin cross, buttonhole filling, double running, Croatian flat, queen, and rice stitch.
