Mother and Child by Gustav Klimt
Counted cross stitch chart or kit from the Scarlet Quince Art Nouveau Fine Art Collection.
Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism.
This piece shows a detail from "The Three Ages of Woman" showing a nude young mother holding her sleeping baby. Her head, with flowing golden hair decorated with flowers and ferns, rests on the baby's curly brown hair. The background is abstract dots and circles. (Art Nouveau, 1905)
