Jesus Wept Sampler circa 1820
An historical design from the Scarlet Letter collection.
A Rare Two-Sided Miniature Religious Sampler Circa 1820.
Originally worked on fine tammy (wool) cloth with silk flosses, these two separate samplers were bound together, back to back, with pink grosgrain ribbon edging. They are quite compact yet comprehensive in scope, with wonderfully varied and detailed motifs including a cat on a cushion, a house, peacocks, butterflies, birds, dogs, and many flowering plants. All kits include graphs for both samplers, but you can choose either the kit with materials for just the pictorial sampler, or the kit with materials to make both samplers in either silk or cotton threads.
