William Morris Pomegranate Rug Tapestry
A beautiful tapestry from the Beth Russell Designers Forum Collection.
William Morris produced a very pretty watercolour and ink sketch some time between 1880 - 1896, which is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
Beth Russell has transformed this delicate painting into a very elegant needlepoint rug, as usual keeping to Morris' sensitive colouring and proportions.
To provide an insight into Beth's interpretations of William Morris designs, you can see the bottom picture which shows combined parts of a stitched rug with Morris' unfinished watercolour to produce this image.
