Arizona by Maxfield Parrish

Maxfield Parrish (July 25, 1870 – March 30, 1966) was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the twentieth century. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealised neo-classical imagery.
This piece is of rugged pillars of lava rock framing a glaring blue sky. The sun intensely lights one crag a rosy orange and yellow while throwing the other into deep purple shadow. (1930)
