Columbian Hummingbird (Detail) by John James Audubon

Cross stitch chart or kit from the Scarlet Quince Birds Fine Art Collection.

John James Audubon (April 26, 1785 - January 27, 1851) was a French-American ornithologist, naturalist, hunter, and painter. He painted, catalogued, and described the birds of North America in a form far superior to what had gone before. In his outsized personality and achievements, he seemed to represent the new American nation of the United States.

Columbian hummingbirds (now known as Anna's hummingbirds) with pink hibiscus. Designed to show the behaviour as well as the appearance of the birds, the print shows the hummingbirds gathering nectar from the flowers, flying, perching, and a female sitting on its nest. The background is not stitched, and the pattern is designed for white fabric (c.1830).

Approx: 7" x 9" or 18 x 24cm - when worked on 18ct.

You can also choose to have this design in kit form - list of DMC threads used.
