Maxfield Parrish (July 25, 1870 – March 30, 1966) was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the twentieth century. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealised neo-classical imagery.
This piece is of two boys and a man in elaborate Elizabethan dress standing before an arched colonnade. The man holds a shallow silver basin containing a round plum pudding, while the boys hold silver trays, one with a bowl of apples and the other with a bowl and pitcher. (Golden Age of Illustration, 1897).
Approx: 22" x 19" or 55 x 48cm - when worked on 18ct or 36ct.
